Two kinds of booking, done properly
Malcolm Copeland plays weddings and kids birthday parties in Charlotte, NC. Those are the two, and they are deliberately the only two: a wedding reception and a children's party need different music, different volume, and a different approach, and doing a narrow pair of things well beats doing everything adequately.
The sound engineer and the DJ are the same person
This is the part that is unusual.
On most bookings the DJ is a music specialist and the speakers are whatever arrived in the van. Malcolm Copeland came to this from the system side. The certifications listed on this page are the industry ones for audio system design and networked audio, and they are his, held personally. They are not a brand he sells, not an endorsement from anyone, and not a promise about your event. What they mean in practice is that the person choosing the music also understands why the back of the room sounds different from the front, and can fix it.
